It seems like we just left the track and now in a few weeks we will be starting another racing season. A couple of key dates to keep in mind at Grundy should be Saturday May 26th as the ASA Late Model Series comes back to town. In 2006 Eddie Hoffman Jr took the checkered flag and should be the man to beat again in 2007. On July 13th Steve Einhaus brings the ASA Midwest tour to Grundy for a Friday night event.
I recently had the privelage to sit down with Mid-am front runner Jeff Olson and ask him a few questions about his upcoming 2007 racing season.
Roundboy Report: Jeff tell us a little about your racing career.
Jeff Olson: I started in the Midwest Enduro series in 2002 where I won the Rookie-of the year. I ran a few more Enduro races before getting into Mid-am. This will be my 4th season in Mid-am.
RR Tell us how the 2006 season was for you.
JO We set fast time at the Mid-am show at Grundy. We won a few heat races and had four feature wins.
RR What are your plans for 2007?
JO I plan on competing for the Mid-am title at Grundy with the possibility of running Illiana and Rockford at the end of the year.
RR Tell us about the car
JO Its a 2007 Monte Carlo with a B&B motor. The car was completely tore down after last season and completely redone.
RR Racing is very expensive any sponsors you would like to mention.
JO Yes, I have some great sponsors like Olson's Auto Wrecking, Custom Marine, Advanced Race Cars, Jack and Lovey's Bar and Grill, Bonnie Jean's hair-n-more, Big Jim's Collision and Repair, and Howards Carpet.
RR What does the future bring for you?
JO After this season in Mid-am I would like to sell my car and possibly get an ASA Late Model and do some traveling.
RR Thanks Jeff the car looks beautiful and I wish you all the luck this year.
My racing season should begin next week with a trip to Nashville on Saturday and Sunday and I'm hoping to hit a local Tennesee track on Friday night. Kalamazoo is on the schedule for April along with Rockford, Farmers City and Kankakee before the Grundy opener. Hope to have updates on all these tracks in the next report.
